Employment Training

Training by design

We create employment specific training programmes through true collaboration with our clients, making sure we not only meet their objectives, but embed their core values and behaviours throughout.

Our bespoke training has a practical emphasis, giving directors, managers, HR professionals and others the confidence and skills they need to ensure a consistent, transparent and fair approach to their colleagues and any employee relations issues.

Before designing training, we discuss our client’s specific objectives and target audience so that the content and pitch of the training is appropriate and fit for purpose. This way, training packages are perfectly tailored to each client’s needs with the intention that everyone leaves the training equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to support them in their role. The sessions are designed to be lively and interactive, using a variety of training tools including seminars, role play and scenario-based problem solving. The programmes are offered by both employment lawyers and HR professionals; often in conjunction with each other where the training requires a blend of expertise and experience.

Topics include:
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Conducting Investigations
  • Managing Hearings (including grievance, disciplinary and capability)
  • Redundancy and Reorganisation
  • Appraisals
  • TUPE and Combining Cultures
  • Employment Tribunals
  • NHS Specific – MHPS and Training for Responsible Officers

HR Support

HR Solutions by design

The services provided by HR solutions are designed around the needs of those businesses (usually SMEs) who do not have an in-house HR function, or have limited in-house HR support, but are still expected to comply with ever changing employment legislation. The legislation is highly complex and costly if the employer gets it wrong.

Business owners are experts in their field but not usually trained in the management of employees. They can find discussions about absence or performance difficult, managing requests for flexible working or requests for reasonable adjustments in the cases of disabled employees, stressful and worrying.

Many of our clients need help dealing with grievances and disciplinary hearings. They want a HR professional to guide and support them through a fair process and advise what options to consider. Sometimes they need us to hear the disciplinary case for them.

We would be delighted to discuss and explore with you how we might add value to your business. We’re here to help you and can tailor our services to meet your specific requirements.

Examples include:
  • Drafting and maintaining handbooks, policies and procedures
  • Supporting internal investigations into misconduct or grievances
  • Advising on management of sickness absence/return to work interviews
  • Supporting meetings where flexible working is requested and whether the request can be accommodated or declined
  • Supporting disciplinary and grievance hearings, including appeals
  • Advising on suspensions and dismissals
  • Retainer based helpline
